A Red Page Quality status means your page
is on the verge of being unpublished (deleted) by Facebook, or it has already
been unpublished. This is the most severe warning level.
If this happened "suddenly," it is usually because
of one of two reasons:
- A
Single "Severe" Violation: You or an admin posted
something that violates a "zero-tolerance" policy (e.g., hate
speech, nudity, dangerous individuals). This skips the "Yellow"
warning and goes straight to Red.
- Strike
Accumulation: Your page hit a specific threshold of smaller
violations (strikes) that tipped the scale from Yellow to Red instantly.
1. Why "Red" Happens (The Specific Triggers)
Unlike "Yellow" (which means "at risk"),
Red indicates you have crossed a line. Common triggers include:
- Intellectual
Property: Repeatedly posting videos or music you don't own
(copyright strikes).
- Hate
Speech: Content that attacks people based on race, ethnicity,
religion, etc. This is often flagged by AI instantly.
- Misleading
Content/Spam: "Clickbait" links or artificially
inflating engagement (e.g., buying likes/followers).
- Dangerous
Content: Content related to terrorism, child exploitation, or
promoting violence.
2. How to Find the Specific Reason
You need to see exactly which post
triggered this to know if you can appeal it.
For the New Page Experience (Current Design):
- Switch
into your Page's profile.
- Go
to Settings & Privacy > Settings.
- Click New
Page Experience in the left sidebar.
- Click Page
Quality.
- Note: If
you don't see "New Page Experience," look for "Page
Support" or "Support Inbox" in the main menu.
What to look for:
- Green: Good
status.
- Yellow: Some
violations, page is at risk.
- Red: Many
violations or severe violations. The page may be unpublished soon.
3. How to Fix It
If your status is Red, you must act immediately to save the
page.
- Step
1: The "Clean Up":
- Go
through your timeline and delete any posts that are
"edgy," contain copyrighted music, or look like clickbait. Even
if they weren't flagged yet, they could trigger the next
strike that deletes your page.
- Step
2: Request a Review (Appeal):
- Inside
the Page Quality tab (from the steps above), click on
the specific violation.
- If
you believe the decision was a mistake (e.g., Facebook's AI misidentified
a photo), click "Request Review".
- Warning: Only
appeal if you are 100% sure you didn't violate the rules. A failed appeal
can sometimes finalize the decision to unpublish the page.
- Step
3: Wait (The 90-Day Rule):
- Most
"strikes" stay on your account for 90 days to 1 year.
If you cannot appeal, your only option is to stop violating policies
completely and wait for the strikes to expire.
4. Impact on Your Business
Since you are interested in Facebook Marketing,
be aware that a Red status immediately:
- Disables
Ads: You cannot run new ads, and active ads will be paused.
- Reduces
Reach: Your organic posts will be shown to far fewer people.
- Blocks
Monetization: You will lose access to tools like In-Stream Ads.
